Aboff Wins Second Straight Ivy Individual Golf Title, Team Takes Third
April 26, 2009 | Women's Golf
NORTHFIELD, N.J. -- For the second straight season, Princeton's Susannah Aboff has won the individual title at the Ivy League Championships.
Aboff, who parred a 72 Sunday to finish at +3 for the weekend, finished five shots ahead of Yale's Harriet Owers-Bradley to win the title at Atlantic City Country Club.
As a team, Princeton finished third. Harvard won the team title, also for the second straight season, at +40, which was two shots ahead of Yale and five in front of Princeton. That top trio, which finished in a tight bunch considering the difference is five shots between four players over three rounds apiece, was far in front of the rest of the field. Columbia, 41 shots back of Harvard, finished fourth, while Penn was 42 shots off the lead, Brown 39 shots back of Penn and Dartmouth 43 shots back of Brown.
Aboff's title is already the eighth for a Princeton golfer in the 13 times an Ivy League women's golf championships contested. She is the third Tiger to win multiple titles, after Julia Allison (1999, 2001) Avery Kiser (2002, 2003, 2004). Mary Moan (1997) won the first Ivy League women's championship.
Harvard won the title by placing its scoring four all in the top 10, while Princeton had just Aboff and Marlowe Boukis in that category. Yale got three in the top 10 to finish second.
Here are Princeton's individual scores:
