PRINCETON -- The Princeton women's water polo team defeated Wagner 7-4 on Thursday evening in a non-league game at DeNunzio Pool. Senior Claire Jacobson scored two goals in a game the Tigers never trailed.
Princeton jumped to a lead with the game's first two goals and didn't allow a Wagner goal until the second quarter. Princeton led the game 5-2 entering the final period, but Wagner scored the first two goals of the fourth quarter to move within a goal with 3:16 left, but two late goals widened the final gap in Princeton's favor.
In addition to Jacobson's two goals, four other Tigers added single goals. Sophomore Christina Michel and freshman Kristen Ward each played a half in goal and both made five saves.
Princeton moved to 13-9 overall with the win. The Tigers have two important league games this weekend as they look to avenge losses against Bucknell and Maryland.
