Heavy, Open Crews Look To Head Into Postseason With Winning Performances
May 01, 2009 | Heavyweight Rowing, Women's Rowing - Open
The final rowing weekend of the regular season will include only two Princeton teams, both of which will row somewhere in the Garden State with intentions of heading into the postseason with positive energy.
The Tiger heavyweights are ranked 14th nationally, but after four straight losses, Princeton can give itself a positive push forward towards next weekend's EARC Championships when it takes on sixth-seeded Brown Saturday morning on Lake Carnegie. The Bears earned the Content Cup last year with a 3.4-second home victory over the Tigers, who will be looking for their first home win over an Ivy League school since they topped Penn on April 11. Racing will start at 9 a.m. with the 3V competition, with the 1N, 2V and 1V to follow in 20-minute intervals; the Content Cup showdown (1V) is slated for a 10 a.m. start.
Once again, fans can listen online to Princeton's home races live; to do so, go to www.princetoncrew.com and click on the "Listen Live" button under the racing calendar.
The Princeton open crew, currently ranked sixth nationally, will head to Cooper River in Camden, N.J., to take on a field of competitors for The Metro Cup. Included in the field will be Bucknell, one of the top regional challengers against Princeton for a spot in the 2009 NCAA Championships. While Princeton will be looking for a victory, it will also get the chance to run two races (one heat, one final) on the same course it will return to on May 17 for the 2009 EAWRC Championships.
