Allgood and Rasheed Sweep Ivy Honors in Women's Hoops

PRINCETON, N.J. (1/11/10) - Sophomore Devona Allgood and freshman Niveen Rasheed were named the Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday, Jan. 11.
Princeton went 2-0 last week, winning its final non-conference game of the season against La Salle to post the best non-conference record in program history. The Tigers then defeated Penn in the Ivy League opener, 70-39, Princeton's largest margin of victory over its travel partner since 1977.
Allgood continues to have the best field goal percentage on the team, as she shot 65 percent this past week. She went 13 for 20 from the floor for 27 points and had 21 rebounds. She added four blocks, two steals and two assists. At the conclusion of the week, Allgood averaged 13.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game.
Allgood had a double-double in Princeton's final non-conference game against La Salle scoring 17 points and adding 13 rebounds. She also picked up three blocks during the game, while dishing out two assists and one steal. Against Penn, Allgood shot 5 for 8 from the floor for 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds. She ended the game with one block and one steal.
This is Allgood's second Player of the Week honor this season.
Rasheed had 30 points and 19 rebounds during the week, averaging 15 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. She shot 12 for 19 from the floor, for 63.2 percent and was 6 of 7 from the free-throw line. In addition she added six assists, five steals and one block.
Against La Salle she scored 12 points shooting 6 for 10 while dishing out five assists. She pulled down nine rebounds and picked up two steals. Rasheed was key in helping Princeton take a 20-2 lead to start the game, scoring six of the teams' points. In her very first Ivy League game, Rasheed recorded her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 18 points and adding 10 rebounds, both game highs. She shot 6 for 9 from the field and was 6 for 6 from the free-throw line, while adding three steals and a block and an assist each.
This is Rasheed's sixth Rookie of the Week honor.
