Women's Basketball Earns Ranking in ESPN Mid-Major Poll

PRINCETON, N.J. (1/16/10) - Graham Hayes of ESPN has rated the Princeton women's basketball team in his latest mid-major top 10 poll, it was announed on ESPN.com on Monday, Jan. 16. Hayes ranks the Tigers No. 10.
The Tigers are off to the best start in program history with a 13-2 overall record. The team is in the middle of a 19-day break for finals and semester break after posting a 31-point win over Penn in the Ivy League opener. Even more impressive, Princeton is averaging 18.4 points more than its opponents per game. The squad's most notable wins were double-digit victories over Delaware, Drexel, Houston and Lehigh. The team's two losses, to UCLA and Rutgers, were by 10 and 11 points respectively, however the Tigers did lead UCLA at the half and was down by just one to Rutgers at the break.
Princeton will look to move up in Hayes' rankings when it returns to conference play on Friday, Jan. 29 when it hosts Brown at 7 p.m., at Jadwin Gym.
Last week the Tigers were listed second in Hayes' "next five" list, following his top 10.

Princeton also earned a vote in the AP Top 25 Poll on Monday, Jan. 18. Connecticut is the unanimous pick for No. 1 with a 17-0 mark.

ESPN's Charlie Creme updated his bracketology on Tuesday, Jan. 19. He has the Tigers as a No. 13 seed in the NCAA Tournament and has them playing his predicted Atlantic 10 champion Xavier in the first round in Cincinnati, Ohio in the Dayton Region. Previously he slated Princeton as a No. 14 seed playing LSU in the Kansas City Region.
