Getting To Know: Men's Swimming/Diving Tri-Captain Jon Hartmann
January 26, 2010 | Men's Swimming and Diving
As we get closer to HYP weekend, men's swimming & diving senior tri-captain Jon Hartmann takes a few minutes with GoPrincetonTigers.TV to discuss his career, the team's performance early in the 2009-10 season and his goals for the remainder of the season.
A history major from West Newbury, Mass., Hartmann swims the IM and free for the defending Ivy League champion Princeton Tigers. Heading into this weekend's HYP meet (Friday 6/Saturday 12), Hartmann has the seventh-fastest Ivy League time in the 100 free (46.19) and the second-fastest time in the 200 free (1:40.08).
Throughout his career, he has been a consistent scorer for Princeton at the conference meet. Though he has yet to win a championship final, his consistency in reaching championship heats has accounted for significant chunks of Princeton's final team scores.
Hartmann still has several swims at home, even beyond this weekend. Princeton will host Navy and Columbia during the first two weekends of February, and will welcome the entire league to Denunzio Pool March 3-5 for the Ivy League championships.
