Golf Teams to Cap Fall Seasons with Ivies in New England
October 15, 2010 | Men's Golf, Women's Golf
Each Princeton golf team will close its fall season this weekend, and each team will do so against every other Ivy League opponent on courses 85 miles apart in New England.
The Princeton women will play at a Harvard-hosted tournament in a field featuring only the seven Ivy League teams. It will be the Tigers' second tournament this season that features other Ivy schools, after the Princeton Invitational, where Princeton finished ahead of Penn, Harvard and Columbia but behind Yale, which won that event. For the Harvard tournament, the course at The International in Bolton, Mass., will be a par-72 and measure 6,118 yards. The teams will play one round each Saturday and Sunday.
The Princeton men will play in Charlestown, R.I. on the par-71, 7,066-yard Shelter Harbor Golf Club course against a field that includes all eight Ivy League teams in a Northeast Invitational tournament hosted by Rhode Island. Princeton's men have finished ahead of Ivy League opponents on all eight opportunities this season, but will be on the same course as defending Ivy champion Columbia this weekend for the first time this season. Joining the Ivies and host Rhode Island in the 16-team field will be Army, Boston College, Bryant, Connecticut, Hartford, Holy Cross and Navy for one round each Saturday and Sunday.
