Big Five Classic Up Next for Men's Golf
October 07, 2010 | Men's Golf
Princeton's men's golf team will be competing in the Big Five Invitational this weekend for the seventh time in nine years when it heads to Plymouth Country Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pa., for the Temple-hosted event Saturday and Sunday.
The Tigers were winners of the event in the 2004-05 season and tied for second three years ago. The 21-team field includes Brown, Campbell, Cornell, Dartmouth, Drexel, Francis Marion, Fordham, Furman, Harvard, Kentucky, La Salle, Penn, Princeton, Rhode Island, St. John's, Saint Joseph's Seton Hall, Villanova and Yale. Campbell took home the team and individual titles last year, with the Camels' Zak Drescher posting a 2-under 140 at the Flourtown Cricket Club in Philadelphia.
Tee times for the two-round event begin at 7:30 a.m. each day. The teams will be playing on a par-72 course that measures up to 6,570 yards.
In Princeton's two multi-team tournaments so far this season, the Tigers placed second at the McLaughlin Invitational hosted by St. John's and 16th at the Windon Memorial outside Chicago. Sophomore Bernie D'Amato and junior Chase Lovett-Woodsum tied for top-Tiger honors at third overall in the McLaughlin event, while junior Evan Harmeling as the top Princeton finisher at the Windon event, tying for 40th overall.
