Rookie Levin Leads Women's Fencing at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Led by Eve Levin's runner-up in the foil, Princeton had five top-10 finishes in the women's half of the individually scored Garret Open fencing event, conducted Saturday by Penn State.
Levin, a freshmen, had Princeton's highest finish, two spots ahead of junior teammate Lucile Jarry. Sophomore Eliza Stone placed fifth in the saber, with freshman Diamond Wheeler in eighth. Sophomore Phoebe Caldwell led Princeton in the epee with an eighth-place finish.
The meet included nine teams from the NCAA's top 20 team finishers at the 2010 NCAA championship, including host and defending NCAA champ Penn State. The event will continue Sunday with the men's competition.
