PRINCETON (11/16/10) - ESPN.com calls it Garden State bragging rights, as the Princeton women's basketball team travels to Rutgers on Thursday, Nov. 18 in a battle of New Jersey's hottest teams. Tip off is slated for 7:30 p.m.

Princeton is 1-0 on the season after opening the 2010-11 campaign with a 41-point victory, 78-37, over Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday, Nov. 13. All 13 members of the squad played in the game with all but one scoring a basket. Leading the Tigers offensively was junior Devona Allgood with 20 points, just one point shy of matching her career best. She was named the co-Ivy League Player of the Week as she added seven rebounds, three blocks, three steals and one assist. Sophomore Niveen Rasheed added 14 points and led the team in rebounds with eight and assists with four. Senior Addie Micir was also in double digits with 12 points, hitting four three pointers. The Tigers shot 42.6 percent from the floor, 88.2 percent from the line and 27.8 percent from long range. Princeton had a +5.0 rebounding margin and a +12.0 turnover margin in the game as Princeton scored 36 points off of turnovers. Also of note, the Tigers scored 28 points in the paint and 19 on second-chance opportunities.
Rutgers holds a 14-3 edge over Princeton in the all-time series, which includes two games when Rutgers was known as Douglass in the 1970s. The Scarlet Knights have won the last 11 games in the series including a 60-50 win last year.
Rutgers is 0-2 on the season after dropping a 66-57 game at California and a 63-50 game at Stanford last weekend. Erica Wheeler and April Sykes lead the team in scoring, averaging 16 and 10 points per game respectively. Chelsey Lee has a team-best 19 rebounds with Monique Oliver contributing 12. Khadijah Rushdan has dished out a team-high 11 assists and four steals, while Oliver is the team leader in blocks with seven. The Scarlet Knights are averaging 53.5 points per game and have a -11.0 scoring margin. They also run a deficit in rebounding at -12.5. Rutgers is shooting .387 from the floor, .294 from the three-point line and .455 from the free-throw line. The squad was predicted to finish seventh in the BIG EAST preseason poll after finishing last season with a 19-15 mark and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the eighth consecutive season.
