PRINCETON (12/3/10) - The Princeton women's basketball team returns home to Jadwin Gym for the first time since the home opener nearly a month ago, to host Rider on Sunday, Dec. 5. It will be a doubleheader at Jadwin with the men's team taking on St. Joseph's at 5 p.m.
The game will be webstreamed live on GoPrincetonTigers.tv for subscribers. Fans can also listen to the live play-by-play by Princeton's broadcaster Derek Jones and follow live stats free of charge.
Princeton improved to 4-2 on the season after a 68-50 win over Delaware on Wednesday night. Three players are in double figures in scoring led by the 2010 Ivy League Rookie of the Year Niveen Rasheed. Rasheed is scoring 15.2 points per game and also leads the team on the glass with 8.5 rebounds per game. She can also set up her teammates with a team-high 20 assists to go along with a team-best 14 steals. Senior co-captain Addie Micir adds 13.8 points per game. She has hit six three-pointers in each of the last two games, a career best. In addition to her 46.9 three-point shooting percentage, Micir has gone 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Junior Devona Allgood puts back 11.8 points per game and is second on the team in rebounds with 6.7 boards per game. She also leads the team in blocks with nine. As a team Princeton is averaging 66.0 points per game and shooting a clip of 40.7 percent from the field. The Tigers are 71.6 percent from the free-throw line and 37.0 percent from long range.
Princeton leads the all-time series with Rider, 19-8. The Tigers have won the last two meetings including an 83-57 victory last season.
Rider is seeking its first win of the season after starting off 0-5. The Broncs most recently fell to FDU 77-50, a week after dropping a 60-45 game to Penn. Sophomore Caitlin Bopp leads the team in scoring and in rebounds with 8.4 and 10.8, respectively. She has a team-high 15 steals to go along with seven blocks and three assists. Sheree Lightbourne adds 8.3 points per game, while Ali Heller chips in 7.8. Sarah Homan is second on the team in boards with 4.6 per game while leading the Broncs in blocks with nine. Rider is averaging 43.4 points per game and shooting 27.2 percent from the field. They are 23.4 percent from long range and 54.3 percent from the free-throw line. Rider pulls down 35.2 rebounds per game, a -7.2 rebounding margin.
