Big Weekend Ahead as Women's Hoops Host Harvard and Dartmouth

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/4/10) - The Princeton women's basketball team will face Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend, Feb. 5-6. The Tigers host the Crimson on Friday at 7 p.m., and the Big green on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Friday's game with Harvard will be broadcast on regional television on Verizon FiOS 1. Both games will be webcast live on GoPrincetonTigers.tv for subscribers. Live audio will be provided free of charge with Derek Jones calling all the action, and live stats will also be available.
With a 15-2 overall record, Princeton has already surpassed last year's win total of 14 and has 11 more games to play during the regular season. The Tigers are 3-0 in the league after sweeping Brown and Yale by a combined 52 points last weekend. The team is also in the midst of a 10-game winning streak that dates back to early December. Leading the team offensively is freshman Niveen Rasheed with 15.5 points per game. She is second on the team in rebounds with 7.5 boards per game, and leads the team in assists with 47 and in steals with 38. Sophomore Lauren Edwards contributes 13.1 points per game and has 4.2 rebounds, 35 assists, 20 steals and 17 blocks. Junior Addie Micir posts 12.9 points per game, thanks to her 47.9 three-point shooting. She is also 80 percent from the line. Sophomore Devona Allgood leads the team in rebounds with 7.6 points per game and has a team-high 25 blocks, while adding 10.4 points per game. Princeton shoots 45.2 percent from the field, 38.7 percent from behind the arc and 70.1 percent from the line. The Tigers average 71.8 points per game and hold teams to 52.5 for a +19.3 scoring margin.
Harvard has a 37-27 edge over Princeton in the all-time series and is on a six-game winning streak over the Tigers. The teams are even when playing at Jadwin Gym at 14-14.
Harvard is 11-6 overall and is 2-1 in the Ivy League after sweeping Columbia and Cornell last weekend. The Crimson do have a tough time on the road with a 2-6 away record, while going 8-0 at home. Emma Markley leads the team in scoring and in rebounding with 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. She also adds a team-best 42 blocks. Brogan Berry adds 13 points per game and has dished out a league high 105 assists this season. Victoria Lippert and Christine Matera are also in double digits in scoring with 11.4 and 10.4 points per game. Starter Jackie Alemany leads the team in steals with 28 and is second on the team in rebounds with 6.2 boards per game. As a team, Harvard is shooting 42.2 percent from the floor, 37.7 percent from behind the arc and 75.8 percent from the free throw line. The team averages 70 points and holds opponents to 67.2, for a +2.8 scoring margin.
Dartmouth leads the all-time series with Princeton 43-19 and has won the last four meetings with the Tigers. At Jadwin last year, the Big Green earned a 71-67 overtime victory and then earned a one-point win in Hanover three weeks later.
Dartmouth enters the weekend with a 7-10 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the Ivy League. The Big Green defeated Cornell by two before losing a 13-point game to Columbia at home last weekend. Brittney Smith averages a double-double per game with 12.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. She also has a team-high 38 blocks and 32 steals. Faziah Steen, Betsy Williams and Sasha Dosenko add 7.9, 6.8 and 6.4 points, respectively. Dosenko adds 20 blocks per game, while Steen has 26 steals. Meghan McFee is the team leader in assists with 30. Dartmouth is shooting 33.2 percent from the field, 27.6 percent from three-point range and 63.5 percent from the free throw line. The squad averages 50.5 points per game while its opponents average 61.2 points per game, for a -10.8 scoring margin.
