Softball Drops Tuesday Pair in California

FRESNO, Calif. -- Colorado State and Fresno State each picked up a five-inning win over the Princeton softball team Tuesday in Fresno, Calif. The Rams won the first game 9-1, while the host Bulldogs won game two 10-0
Colorado State 9, Princeton 1
The Rams (17-8) faced Princeton's (2-9) two rookie pitchers, Alex Peyton and Liza Kuhn, getting eight hits and six walks. Princeton had a pair of singles from Nicole Ontiveros and Collette Abbott, with the Tiger run coming across in the fourth when Abbott scored on a sacrifice fly by Kelsey Quist.
Fresno State 10, Princeton 0
Fresno State (16-9) did all its damage against Jamie Lettire, scoring four runs in the first inning before adding another in the third and five more in the fourth. Princeton went down in order until Megan Weidrick broke up the perfect game bid by Mackenzie Oakes with two outs in the fifth on a single for the Tigers' only hit.
Princeton will head north to Stockton, Calif., for a twinbill against Pacific Wednesday.
