Women's Basketball: Blog From Florida

Day 1: We departed Jadwin Gym at 7:30 a.m., to catch our charter flight from Philadelphia to Tallahassee (check us out in front of our plane --->). Arriving around noon, we grabbed a quick bite to eat before checking into the team hotel. We were welcomed with a decked out Sheraton lobby complete with Princeton balloons, pom poms, pennants and even a Princeton flag hanging next to the American flag on the flag pole out front. The employees were also decked out in Princeton t-shirts. We headed to Tallahasssee Community College (TCC) for practice from 4-6 and dinner followed. Then it was time for a little S&S - studying and sleep.
Day 2: Some of us were up early to work on senior theses and junior papers but we had team breakfast and watched filmed at 10:30 a.m., before heading over to the Tucker Center. Coach Banghart and senior captains Tani Brown and Cheryl Stevens had a press conference at 12:20 and we heard it was the best one of the day. Tani and Cheryl even received compliments from the NCAA. And Cheryl was quoted in an AP article that has even made it on SI.com. The team then had its first practice on the game court. It was an open practice so members of the media were there, including tomorrow's ESPN talent who spoke with Coach Banghart after practice. Because practice on the main court was just an hour, we headed over to TCC for another short practice. We had a couple hours to ourselves before dinner, to either catch a nap, enjoy the sun or hit the books. After dinner we had some time to spend with our families before a team meeting at 10 p.m. Time to get some rest and focus on on the task at hand - beating St. John's.
Day 3: GAME DAY! We passed on taking our scheduled shoot around this morning, which we were all thrilled about, because it was scheduled for 6:30 a.m.! Instead we took a walk near the hotel and then had breakfast around 9. We had a pep rally at the hotel and it was awesome! Our families were there, and the band and cheerleaders. We arrived at the Tucker Center at 11 a.m., and we're ready to play! Watch our game on ESPN2 at 12:21 p.m.
Well we lost to St. John's 65-47. If you watched our game you know already that things just didn't go our way. We had the looks and the shots but they just wouldn't fall for us. We're disappointed. We did have a great crowd representing Princeton with a sea of orange in section C1. Families flew in from all over the country, as did some of our alums. Even the women's golf team showed up to support us. After the game, Coach Banghart, Niveen Rasheed and Addie Micir went to a post game press conference and then we headed back to the hotel. It was a quick turnaround to check our of the hotel, say our goodbyes and head to the airport to catch our charter flight home. Our spirits got brighter and arriving back at the circle at Jadwin Gym at 8:30 p.m., we know that although today's game didn't go as we hoped, it was a season we'll never forget.
