PRINCETON, N.J. (3/8/10) - The 2010 Ivy League champion Princeton will host Penn in the women's basketball home finale on Tuesday, March 8 at 5 p.m., at Jadwin Gym
The game will be webcast via GoPrincetonTigers.tv for subscribers. Fans can listen to the game online with play-by-play called by Derek Jones and follow live stats free of charge.
It will be Senior Day for Princeton senior captains Tani Brown and Cheryl Stevens, affectionately known as Cheytan. The Ivy League championship trophy will also be making an appearance as Jadwin helps send the Tigers on their way to the big dance.
Princeton is 25-2 overall and 13-0 in the Ivy League. The Tigers won the Ivy League last weekend after a sweep of Dartmouth and Harvard on the road. Princeton has a +19.7 scoring margin over its opponents, averaging 71.7 points and keeping opponents to 52.0 points per game. The Tigers shoot 44.9 percent from the floor, 36.3 percent from behind the arc and 70.7 percent from the free throw line. Four players are in double figures in scoring led by freshman Niveen Rasheed. Rasheed puts up 15.5 points per game and also leads the team in rebounds with 8.7. She is the team leader in assists with 78 and steals with 62, while also chipping in 12 blocks. Sophomore Luaren Edwards is averaging 13.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, and has 37 steals, 30 blocks and 62 assists. Junior Addie Micir contributes 12.7 points per game as the team's best three-point shooter and free-throw shooter. Sophomore Devona Allgood averages 11.1 points and 8.1 rebounds per game and leads the team in field goal percentage at 58.5 percent. She leads the team in blocks with 38 and has also picked up 23 steals and 22 assists.
Princeton leads the all-time series with Penn, 44-23. The Tigers have won the last three meetings including a 70-39 win in January. Princeton is 22-10 when playing their travel partner at Jadwin Gym.
Penn is 2-25 overall and 1-12 in the Ivy League earning its first league win against Dartmouth on Saturday, a 44-31 victory. The Quakers nearly knocked off Harvard the night before but a three-pointer at the buzzer gave the Crimson the 55-52 win. Penn averages 46 points per game and is giving up 60.6 points per game. They shoot 31.4 percent from the floor, 65.9 percent from the line and 21.2 percent from long range. Sarah Bucar leads the Quakers in scoring with 7.5 pints per game as the team's best outside shooter. She also has a team-best 76 assists, 38 steals and averages 3.0 rebounds per game. Kim Adams adds 7.3 points per game and Caitlin Slover is putting up 6.6 per game. Slover has a team-best 39 steals and 61 assists. Jess Knapp, who leads teh team in blocks with 39, adds 6.5 points per game and is the team's top rebounder wiht 6.6 boards per game. Adams is second on the team in rebounding with 4.5 rebounds per game.
