Baseball Team Visits Columbia for Gehrig Division Series

Through two weekends of Ivy crossover games, the Tigers are 3-5 with doubleheader splits against Harvard, Dartmouth and Yale, and a sweep at the hands of Brown. As a result, Princeton currently sits in third place in the Gehrig standings. Columbia tops the division with a 6-2 league mark and Penn is second at 4-4.
Brian Berkowitz leads Princeton with a .337 batting average and is one of six Tigers to drive in 10 or more runs. Noel Gonzales-Luna (.333), Sam Mulroy (.318), Nate Baird (.306) and John Mishu (.306) join Berkowitz with averages better than .300. Mulroy has a team-high 25 runs scored and 14 extra-base hits, while Jon Broscious leads the team with seven home runs and 21 RBIs.
A 10-time Gehrig Division Champion, Princeton will look to make up ground on the Lions this weekend in its quest for the program's 11th division title and first since the 2006 season.
Princeton is 118-80-2 all-time against Columbia and is 60-37-1 in the series on the road. The Tigers won three of four from the Lions last season at Clarke Field, but the teams split the four games in each of the previous two seasons. Columbia last won a series from Princeton in 2005.
Columbia is 15-13 overall and 6-2 in the Ivy League. The Lions have been most successful on their home field, with a 9-1 record in the their 10 home appearances. The Lions are 12-3 since beginning their Northeast schedule after early season trips to Nevada, Virginia and the Carolinas. Columbia split with Dartmouth and swept Harvard last weekend.
The Lions have seven batters hitting better than .300, led by Dean Forthun's .378 average. In addition the Lions have nine players with 11 or more RBIs and are batting .319 as a team.
