Princeton is coming off its best result in years last weekend, when it defeated then-No. 1 Virginia and No. 4 Yale on Lake Carnegie. The victory moved Princeton from No. 6 in the poll to No. 2, and the Tigers claimed eight of the 25 first-place votes. California is ranked first, but the Tigers have victories over each of the next three teams in the national poll: No. 3 Virginia, No. 4 Yale and No. 5 Brown.
You can listen to senior co-captain and stroke Sara Hendershot discuss last weekend's Eisenberg Cup victory and the overall season in the latest edition of TigerCast on GoPrincetonTigers.com.
The Tigers are now 8-0 overall, 5-0 in the league, and can complete its first perfect Ivy League regular season since 2006. Princeton is also highly ranked in the latest EAWRC seeding polls; the Tigers are the top-ranked team in both the first varsity and varsity four polls, while they rank second to Brown in the second varsity polls. Those are the three crews that comprise a team at the NCAA Championships, which will be held May 28-30 in Sacramento, Calif.
Dartmouth is the only other team in this morning's competition currently ranked in the Top 20. The Big Green stands 17th in the latest USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association NCAA Division I Coaches poll after sweeping both Radcliffe and Syracuse last weekend on the Charles River.
Both Penn and Bucknell are among the teams receiving votes in this week's poll. Penn competed against both Cornell and Rutgers last weekend for the Raritan Cup and came away with a split. Cornell ended up with an overall win, but Penn topped Rutgers by 6.4 seconds.
Bucknell is coming off a sweep over MIT last weekend in its only home event of the spring.
Princeton will continue its home-dominated schedule next weekend when it hosts the 17th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers next Saturday morning. The regatta will begin at 11:15 a.m., with the first varsity race to start at 12:15.
