Women's Basketball Announces Class of 2014

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/27/10) - Princeton head women's basketball coach Courtney Banghart has announced the recruiting class of three student-athletes to join the team as the Class of 2014.
Joining the Tigers are:
Kristen Helmstetter, 6-0, Forward, Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan
Nicole Hung - 5-11, Guard, Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard
Westlake
Alex Rodgers - 5-9, Guard, Mouth of Wilson, Va./Oak Hill

important part of what we do at Princeton," Banghart said. "Not only are we
looking for the most talented student-athletes far and wide, but we're looking
for people and competitors that can add to the culture already in place. I
couldn't be more excited to be adding Kristen, Nicole, and Alex to the Tiger
program and the entire Tiger community. They bring athleticism, commitment,
talent, potential, winning expectations, kindness, and a desire to be a part of
all that we're doing here. The entire program, players and coaches, is looking
forward to having them bring the orange and black to the next level."
Nicole Hung - 5-11, Guard, Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard Westlake
A four-year letterwinner from Harvard Westlake, Hung is ranked #30 as a power forward on ESPN HoopGurlz and earned a Scouts grade of 90. Hung helped the Wolverines to a record of 93-29 during her four years, including a 34-1 mark her senior season. As a senior she averaged 17.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.1 steals and 0.7 blocks per game. She was captain of the team during her junior year. Harvard Westlake was the 2007 and 2010 Mission League Champion, the 2009 CIF-SS Division IVA Champion, 2010 CIF-SS Division IVAA Champion and the 2010 Division IV CIF State Champion.
Hung is a two-time first-team All-Mission League honoree and was named the league's Co-MVP as a senior. As a junior she was named the CIF-SS Division IVA Player of the Year and first-team All-State. As a senior Hung captured CIF-SS Division IVAA Co-Player of the Year honors, played in the Battle of the Valley All-Star Game and was named Maxpreps Honorable Mention All-America. She most recently was named a Los Angeles Times All-Star.
Hung plays her AAU basketball with the California Swish. The Swish was the 2009 Nike National Champions in addition to the Music City Madness Champions and End of the Trail Champions, in which she was named all-tournament.
Hung is also a four-year letterwinner in tennis.
Kristen Helmstetter, 6-0, Forward, Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan
Helmstetter lettered four years at Bridgewater-Raritan. She was captain her senior year guiding the Panthers to a 24-3 record, while scoring 22.0 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 3.3 steals and 3.2 blocks per game as a senior. In her career she totaled 15.0 points, 8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 3.8 blocks per game. A three-time team MVP, Helmstetter is the highest scorer in Bridgewater-Raritan history with 1,476 points.
A three-time first-team All-Skyland Conference selection, Helmstetter was named to the North All-Star Team that competed in the North/South game and was the MVP at two holiday tournaments.
She was named to the Courier News All-Freshman Team in 2007, earned third-team honors in 2008, second-team honors in 2009 and first-team honors in 2010.
She was named the 2010 Star-Ledger Somerset County Player of the Year and was named second-team All-Group IV by the publication. She earned third-team All-Group IV honors in 2009 along with being named first-team All-Somerset County. As a freshman she captured first-team All-Area honors by the Star-Ledger.
Helmstetter played her AAU with the New Jersey Demons. The Demons won the Boo Williams Tournament in April 2009, participated in junior nationals and competed in numerous tournaments.
Helmstetter also garnered three letters in volleyball.
Alex Rodgers - 5-9,
Guard, Mouth of Wilson, Va./Oak Hill Academy
A four-year letterwinner from Oak Hill Academy, Rodgers is ranked #108 as a
shooting guard on ESPN HoopGurlz and earned a Scouts grade of 80. Rodgers
helped the Warriors to a record of 86-29 during her tenure, averaging 13.2
points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.1 blocks per game. During
her senior year she averaged 10.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.8 steals
and 0.1 blocks per game while captaining her team to a 23-4 record. She was
also captain her freshman season when she was named first-team Mountain Empire
District. Oak Hill was the 2010 National High School Invitational (NHSI)
national runner-up.
Rodgers is a 2010 McDonalds All-American Honorable Mention selection, and was named to the National Association of Christian Athletes (NACA) and Potters House Christian Academy (PHCA) All-Tournament teams. Her team honored her with MVP in 2010, Most Improved in 2008 and Offensive Player of the Year in 2007.
Rodgers plays her AAU basketball with the Garner Flames in Raleigh, N.C. The Flames were North Carolina state champions in 2008 and 2009 and while reaching the AAU Nationals both years. The squad competed in the Boo Williams Invitational and the US Junior Nationals in 2008 and 2009.
She also lettered in volleyball and tennis at Oak Hill.
