Baseball Team Makes Short Trip to Rider on Wednesday
April 27, 2010 | Baseball
Princeton enters the game off its third-straight 1-3 league weekend. The Tigers started their series with Penn last weekend with a win, but the Quakers took the final three games of the four-game set to drop the Tigers to 10-27 overall and 5-11 in the Ivy League.
Noel Gonzales-Luna leads the Tigers with a .315 average and is joined by John Mishu as Princeton's two batters that are hitting better than .300. Mishu has climbed in the standings thanks to his current seven-game hitting streak, the fourth longest on the team this season. Sam Mulroy, who leads the Tigers in hits, extra-base hits, home runs and RBIs ranks fourth with a .290 average.
The Tigers will look to get back in the win column Wednesday afternoon when they visit Rider at 3:30 p.m. Princeton is 21-24 all-time against the Broncs and is 8-15 in the series on the road. Rider has won three of its last four games against Princeton, including a 6-0 win at Clarke Field last season. Princeton won 14-3 at Rider two seasons ago.
Rider is 19-18 overall and 7-8 in the MAAC this season. The Broncs, who host St. Joseph's on Tuesday afternoon, were swept in a three-game series at Canisius over the weekend. Those losses snapped a stretch where Rider had won eight of 10 games.
