Cerullo Leads Trio Of Women's Squash Players On All-America List
April 05, 2010 | Women's Squash
Freshman Julie Cerullo completed an impressive rookie season by leading a trio of Princeton women's squash players in receiving 2009-10 All-America honors. Cerullo, who won nine of her final 10 matches, was one of 10 players in the nation to earn first-team honors.
Cerullo joins senior Neha Kumar and Jackie Moss on the All-America list. Both Kumar and Moss earned second-team honors.
Cerullo was one of the top recruits in the nation last year and was impressive throughout the season, although she was at her best at the end of the year. She became the first collegiate player to defeat Trinity's Nour Baghat in a tough 11-9,10-12,11-9,11-8 victory at the Jadwin Squash Courts, and followed with a trio of 3-2 victories at the Howe Cup Championships. Following a first-round upset at the national individual championships, Cerullo won her final four matches to win the consolation draw.
Moss had arguably the most impressive season of her career, winning 10 of 13 matches. She won a five-game thriller over Sydney Scott 7-11,11-9,11-7,13-15,13-11 in the regular season and went 2-1 in the Howe Cup. Kumar, who completes a career with All-America honors in all four seasons, overcame injuries to go 4-2 in the regular season and won three matches in the national individual championships.
