May 01, 2010 | Women's Rowing - Open
The second-ranked Princeton open women completed their 11th perfect season, and only their second with at least 12 victories, by defeating No. 16 Tennessee Saturday morning on Lake Carnegie.
Princeton kept its perfect season intact by topping Tennessee in 6:18.0, while the Volunteers placed second in 6:30.2. The Tiger second varsity also had a strong finish to its reguiar season, winning by four seconds in 6:28.0. The Princeton varsity four, which has only one loss on its season, won its regular season finale in 7:26.6, more than 12 seconds faster than its opponent.
The last Princeton open crew to go undefeated was the 2006 squad, and it followed the season with wins in both the EAWRC and NCAA grand finals. Princeton will get a chance to match that success this month, beginning with the EAWRC championships on May 16 at Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J.
