Tiger Trio Earn Four All-America Honors in Track & Field

PRINCETON, N.J. (6/15/10) - Sophomore Donn Cabral, sophomore Alex Banfich and junior Ashley Higginson earned All-America honors after the NCAA Track & Field Championships, it was announced by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Cabral was a double All-America honoree, earning the award in the steeplechase and the 5000-meter run. Cabral finished as the runner-up in the steeplechase at 8:38.90 while taking sixth in the 5000 with a time of 13:53.33. He becomes just the second track student-athlete to earn double All-America honors, following August Wolf who earned the honors in the shot put and discus in 1983.
Higginson finished third in the women's steeplechase recording a time of 9:52.73, a personal best and Princeton record. She is the first student-athlete in program history to earn All-America honors in the steeplechase.
Banfich finished eighth in the women's 5000-meter run with a time of 16:06.79. She joins an elite group that have earned honors in the 5000, which include: Kate McCandless (1992 outdoor) Kristin Beaney (1994 indoor, 1994 outdoor) and Emily Kroshus (2004 indoor).
These are the first All-America awards for the trio.
