NCAA Medalist Princeton Open Crew Earns Four All-America Honors
June 08, 2010 | Women's Rowing - Open
Seniors Ashton Brown and Sara Hendershot and juniors Michaela Strand and Lauren Wilkinson earned 2010 Pocock All-America honors by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) after leading Princeton to a remarkable 12-0 season and a bronze medal at the NCAA Championship meet.
Brown, Hendershot and Wilkinson each earned first-team All-America honors, while Strand earned second-team honors. Hendershot earned her second straight first-team All-America honor after serving as the varsity eight stroke for the last two years. Wilkinson also earned her second All-America distinction; in 2008, she earned second-team honors.
The four were part of an impressive varsity eight which went undefeated in the regular seasons, including wins over eventual NCAA team champion Virginia and eventual NCAA varsity eight champion Yale. The Tigers defeated two other Top-10 programs in Brown and Ohio State, and they were within one second of winning their first EAWRC/Ivy League title since 2006. Princeton finished second to Yale by less than one second at the Eastern Championships, but the members of the varsity eight each earned All-Ivy honors.
