Start Times For All 2010 Football Games Now Available Online
July 28, 2010 | Football
The 2010 Princeton football team will play six of its 10 games at home and eight of its 10 games in the early afternoon this season. The Tigers, under the direction of new head coach Bob Surace, also won't need to travel much during the upcoming season; of its four road games, Princeton will travel more than 150 miles only once.
Princeton will open the 2010 season at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 in Bethlehem, Pa., against Lehigh. The Tigers defeated Lehigh 14-10 last season after two long touchdowns by returning starters Steven Cody and Tommy Wornham.
Princeton will make its home debut Sept. 25 against Lafayette, a team it hasn't played since 2007. In that game, R.C. Lagomarsino scored the go-ahead touchdown with 30 seconds remaining in the third quarter of a 20-14 victory. This season's matchup will take place at 6 p.m., making it the only game to begin in the evening hours.
The 2010 Ivy League season will begin Oct. 2 at Columbia (12:30 p.m.). Princeton will be looking for the same kind of thrilling Ivy League start as it got on its last trip to New York City, when a 52-yard touchdown reception by Trey Peacock in the fourth quarter helped Princeton to a 27-24 win over the Lions.
Princeton will open its first three-game homestand since 2005 on Oct. 9 when it hosts Colgate at 1 p.m. Princeton and Colgate played a memorable double-overtime thriller last season, which a nationally ranked Raider squad pulled out at the end. The next two weeks, Princeton hosts two of its top Ivy League rivals in Brown (Oct. 16, 1 p.m.) and Harvard (Oct. 23, 1 p.m.).
The Tigers will head to the always challenging Schoellkopf Field on Oct. 30 to take on Cornell at 12:30 p.m. This has proven to be one of the league's most exciting rivalries, as nine of the last 10 games overall have been decided by a touchdown or less. The last seven games at Schoellkopf Field have been decided by an average of 4.4 points per games, including a 31-26 Tiger victory in 2008 that was decided on the final play.
Princeton will host defending Ivy champion Penn at 3 p.m. on Nov. 6 in a game televised nationally on The Versus Network (DirecTV 603). On Nov. 13, the second-longest rivalry in college football will continue when Princeton heads to New Haven to take on Yale for the 133rd time; last season, Princeton outrushed Yale 247-112 in a 24-17 home win over the Bulldogs.
Senior Day and the 2010 season finale will be Nov. 20 at 1 p.m. when Princeton hosts Dartmouth. The Tigers have won five straight over Dartmouth, including a 23-11 road win last season.
