Men's Water Polo Ranked 14th in Preseason Poll
August 18, 2010 | Men's Water Polo
Princeton is tied for 14th in the polls with Southern Division rival Navy and St. Francis of the Northern Division. The trio rank as the top teams in the poll that are not based in California. Princeton was ranked ninth in the 2009 preseason poll and overcame injuries early in the season to defeat Southern Champion Navy in the Eastern title game.
The Tigers will have at least six games this season against teams appearing in the polls, with additional match-ups likely as tournament schedules are announced. Princeton opens the season on Sept. 10 with two games against ranked teams, hosting 20th-ranked Cal Baptist at 12 noon and 13th-ranked Santa Clara at 6 p.m. The game with Santa Clara will appear live nationwide on ESPNU. Princeton also has scheduled games against 14th-ranked Navy, 18th-ranked Bucknell, and Brown and Johns Hopkins, which each received votes in the poll.
The Tigers begin the preseason on Friday and will practice for the three weeks before the Sept. 10 season opener.
