Steven Cody Earns Second Preseason All-America Honor
August 24, 2010 | Football
Steven Cody, a two-time All-Ivy League selection who ranked fifth nationally in tackles last season, has earned his second preseason All-America distinction. Cody, previously selected to the Consensus Draft Services Preseason FCS All-America team, was just named a third-team All-America selection by the College Sporting News.
Cody, one of two Ivy League players to make any of the CSN All-America teams, led the Ivy League with 11.6 tackles per game in 2009. Of the four players who ranked above him nationally last season, only Eastern Washington's J.C. Sherritt returns for the 2010 season. He recorded 104 tackles last season, including 10 for loss, and his 77-yard interception return for a touchdown helped Princeton to a 14-10 win at Lehigh.
Cody, who joins classmate Matt Zimmerman as a 2010 co-captain, was the Ivy League Defensive Player after recording 15 tackles and an interception in a victory over Cornell.
Princeton will open its 2010 preseason camp Wednesday, Aug. 25.
