Men's Water Polo to Host Santa Clara on ESPNU as Part of Invitational Schedule
August 05, 2010 | Men's Water Polo
The game will mark the second time in as many seasons that a Princeton men's water polo game will appear on live television. Last season ESPNU aired Princeton's season opener against UCLA. Over the past three seasons, the Princeton water polo events have been televised live on ESPNU, including a women's game in the 2009 season.
The Princeton/Santa Clara game will be each team's second game of the season. Princeton will open the season at 12 noon the same day against Cal Baptist, while the Broncos will have one game under their belts, a meeting with Cal the previous weekend. The game will also be the second of the 2010 Princeton Invitational, which will include 17 games over three days. In addition to Santa Clara, Princeton will face Cal Baptist, Fordham and Harvard.
Princeton was 16-12 in 2009 and won the Eastern Championship for its first NCAA Tournament berth since the 2004 season. Princeton finished third at the Championships with a win over Loyola Marymount in the third-place game. Santa Clara was 22-12 and placed third in the WWPA last season.
