Men's Water Polo Defeats Bucknell 9-6; Places Third at ECACs

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (9/19/10) - The 17th-ranked Princeton men's water polo team topped 20th-ranked Bucknell 9-6 to claim third-place at the 2010 ECAC Championship on Sunday afternoon at Harvard's Blodgett Pool.
Princeton controlled the game throughout and played very strong defensively. On the offensive side, Tommy Donahue, Tommy Parolin and Tim Wenzlau all had two goals in the contest, while Chris Cottrell, Matt Hale and Billy Tifft added single goals.
In goal, Mike Merlone made six saves in the half while Ben Dearborn stopped 10 during the second half.
Princeton is now 5-2 overall and picked up its second win of the season over a nationally ranked team. The Tigers open their CWPA Southern Division schedule next weekend at Johns Hopkins, Navy and George Washington.
