Micir Earns Two Player of the Week Honors
January 10, 2011 | Women's Basketball
PRINCETON, N.J. (1/10/11) - Addie Micir of the Princeton women's basketball team has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week and the GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week, presented by Coach USA, for the week of Jan. 10.
Micir led Princeton to a 2-0 week and scored her 1,000th career point on her way to her second Ivy League Player of the Week honor of the 2010-11 season. The senior guard became just the 18th player in Princeton women's basketball history to reach the mark and did so on her first shot of the game on Jan. 4 against La Salle, hitting her 38th three-point basket of the season. She finished the game with 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block. On Jan. 8, Micir scored 18 points to lead the Tigers to a win over Penn in the 2011 Ivy League opener. The win extends the Tigers' conference win streak to 20, ranking third in the nation behind Connecticut and Stanford. When Penn cut a 19-point deficit to seven with 1:44 to play it was Micir that stepped up, hitting a three from the left wing and scored the game's next three points, all coming by way of free throws to give her team back a double-digit lead, 56-43, with 11 seconds left.
