PRINCETON (1/3/11) - The Princeton women's basketball team returns to Jadwin Gym for the first time in nearly a month when it hosts La Salle on Tuesday, Jan. 4. The final contest of the non-conference schedule will tip-off at 7 p.m.

Princeton leads La Salle in the all-time series, 4-1. The teams played four games against each other in the late 1970's, with Princeton winning three of the four. The series resumed last season, with the Tigers taking a 68-49 game in Philadelphia.
Princeton is 10-3 on the season after sweeping Davidson and Wake Forest on the road last week. The Tigers are shooting 43.8 percent from the field, 39.6 percent from behind the arc and 71.4 percent from the charity stripe. Princeton averages 70 points per game, a +13.4 scoring margin over its opponents. Four Tigers are in double digits in scoring, led by sophomore Niveen Rasheed. Rasheed suffered a knee injury during the Davidson game and is being evaluated by the Princeton doctors. Senior Addie Micir scores 12.4 points per game and has the most assists on the team with 28. She is the team's best free-throw and three-point shooter. She shoots 94.1 percent from the foul line, missing just two of her 34 chances, and is 41.1 percent from long range with 37 threes made, the most in the league. Junior Devona Allgood adds 12 points per game and is second on the team in rebounds with 6.8 per game. Classmate Lauren Edwards chips in 11.7 points per game, and 5.3 rebounds per game. Allgood and Edwards and best blockers on the team with 16 and 14, respectively. Sophomore point guard, Lauren Polansky is second on the team in assists with 37, and in steals with 26.
La Salle is 4-9 on the season and is looking for its first win in four games. The Explorers most recently dropped an 85-67 game at Lehigh. The team averages 60.3 points per game and allows 67.2. They are shooting 31.9 percent overall, 29 percent from long range and 74 percent from the foul line. Like the Tigers, the Explorers have four players in double digits in scoring led by senior Ashley Gale who has 16.3 points per game. She adds a team-high 49 steals. Ebonee Jones adds 11.6 points per game, while Alexis Scott and Nadia Duncan contribute 11 and 10.2 points per game, respectively. Jess Koci leads the team on the glass with 7.8 rebounds per game, while Chelsea Conner has a team-high 10 blocks for her team. Michae Bryant is the team's top assist leader with 36 in just 11 games.Princeton and La Salle have five common opponents, Drexel, Delaware, Lafayette, Lehigh and Rider. Princeton is 5-0 against those teams, while La Salle is 1-4 with its lone win a 78-58 game over Rider.
In last year's game, Devona Allgood had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead Princeton to a 68-49 win at Tom Gola Arena. Princeton held La Salle to 1-for-14 shooting in the first 10 minutes of the game as the Tigers grabbed a 20-2 lead. A layup by Danielle Mickiewicz at 9:50 sparked the Explorers' offense, as the team went on a 23-8 run over the next seven minutes to make it a one-possession game, 28-25. Nine of those 23 points came from the free-throw line, as the Explorers shot 9-for-9 from the line. Senior Tani Brown started to get the Tigers back on the right track when she hit a jumper near the home bench as Princeton took a 35-25 edge into the locker room. The Tigers took a 10-3 run en route to a 15-point lead, 47-32 at 11:08, with freshman Kate Miller scoring six of those 10 points. La Salle would only get as close as 12 on two occasions. Niveen Rasheed added 12 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals to the box score for the Tigers. Miller had nine points and Lauren Edwards had eight. Jamie Walsh led the Explorers with 13 points and three assists. Morgan Robertson had 10 points and five rebounds, while Mickiewicz led the team on the glass with six rebounds and finished with six points.
