PRINCETON (1/6/11) - The Princeton women's basketball team begins its quest for its second straight Ivy League Championship when it kicks off the Ivy League schedule hosting Penn on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m.

Princeton is 11-3 after a 94-51 win over La Salle here at Jadwin Gym on Tuesday night. The Tigers are 6-0 when playing at home and look to extend a 19-game Ivy League winning streak, the fourth longest in NCAA Division I women's basketball. Princeton averages over 71 points per game and holds teams to 56. They are shooting a clip of 44.6 percent overall, 40.8 percent from long range and 71 percent from the line. Senior Addie Micir is the team's active leading scorer with 12.7 points per game. She scored her 1,000th career point on Tuesday against La Salle. Micir is the team's top three-point and free-throw shooter, with marks of 43.3 and 94.1 percent, respectively. She is second on the team in assists with 41, behind sophomore Lauren Polansky. Polansky has 43 assists and leads the team in steals as well with 29. Juniors Devona Allgood and Lauren Edwards are scoring 12.2 and 11.6 points per game. They are the team's top blockers with 17 and 14, to their credit. Allgood averages a team-best 6.7 boards per game with Edwards following with 5.3 each game.
Princeton leads the all-time series with Penn, 45-23. The series began on Dec. 8, 1974 with the Tigers taking a 44-35 game at home. Princeton has won the last four meetings including a 68-51 win at Jadwin Gym on March 9, 2010.
Penn is 5-5 on the season and has won its last three straight games. Most recently the Quakers knocked off Lafayette, 59-52 on the road. Penn averages 55.8 points per game, a +1.5 scoring margin over its opponents. They shoot 35.3 percent from the floor, 29.7 percent from long range and 66.2 percent from the stripe. Leading Penn offensively is freshman Alyssa Baron. Baron is scoring 15.1 points per game and is third on the team in rebounds with 4.1 boards per game. Jess Knapp adds 9.5 boards per game and is the team's leading rebounder with 8.6 rebounds per game and has a team-high 10 blocks. Meghan McCullough is third on the team in scoring with seven points per game. She along with Erin Power have 16 steals apiece. McCullough is also tops in assists, dishing out 26, with Power earning 21.
