Men's Water Polo Drops Two on Day 2 of SoCal Tournament

In the opening game, Princeton and UCD traded first quarter goals with Kurt Buchbinder and Thonas Nelson scoring man-up goals for the Tigers. The Tigers led 2-1 in the first quarter, but six-straight goals from UCD starting late in the first quarter and continuing into the first minute of the third quarter turned that 2-1 Princeton lead into a 7-2 deficit.
Buchbinder, Nelson and and Matt Weber finished up the game all with two goals. Mike Helou added two assists in the game, while Nelson drew a team-best three ejections. Ben Dearborn made six saves in the first two quarters, while Tyler Amina made four in the second half.

Princeton fell behind LMU 2-0 a minute into the second game of the day and found itself playing catch up all game long. Princeton trimmed the lead to a goal on a score from Helou, but three more Lion goals gave LMU a 5-1 lead before Princeton would score again.
LMU stretched its lead to 9-5 at the end of the third quarter and Princeton was able to score two quick goals from Helou and Billy Tifft early in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers could get no closer in the final minutes and dropped their second game of the day.
Helou scored three goals in the loss, while four others added single goals. Dearborn made 11 saves.

Princeton falls to 11-6 overall with the losses. The Tigers return to campus and DeNunzio Pool with a league game against Bucknell next Saturday.
