Men's Swimming/Diving Ranked 22nd In Latest CSCAA National Poll
December 16, 2011 | Men's Swimming and Diving
The three-time defending Ivy League champion Princeton men's swimming and diving team was ranked first in the latest Mid-Major national poll, but it also showed it can compete with the major programs as well. The Tigers were ranked 22nd among all teams in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America national poll.
Princeton (3-0, 3-0 Ivy) is currently ahead of Minnesota, Penn State and Florida State in the national Top 25, and it is the only Ivy League school to be ranked among the Top 25. Led by a senior class that has won each of the last three Ivy titles, the Tigers routed the field at the 2011 Big Al Open and already owns dual wins over Penn, Cornell and Brown.
The Tigers have also got a strong infusion of talent from its freshman class. Included in that mix is sprinter Harrison Wagner, whose 50 free time of 19.91 is currently 24th-fastest in the nation. Among the 19 swimming events in the Ivy League Championship Meet, held the first weekend of March in DeNunzio Pool, Princeton currently has the fastest Ivy League time in 11 events and the second-fastest time in eight others.
