Rasheed Named Ivy League Player Of The Week
December 19, 2011 | Women's Basketball
Niveen Rasheed played two games last week, in arenas separated by 3,000 miles and against opponents separated by 17 spots in the national rankings.
In other words, it wasn't quite the easiest stretch to become Ivy League Player of the Week.
Rasheed put up two big-time performances against two big-time foes, earning Ivy League Player of the Week honors after averaging 19.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in Princeton's games against No. 21 DePaul and No. 4 Stanford.
It was the second time this season that Rasheed has been named Ivy Player of the Week. She has now been honored as either Ivy Player of the Week or Rookie of the Week 14 times in the 29 weeks she has competed.
Rasheed had 23 points and a career-high 18 rebounds - the fifth-highest single-game performance in program history - in the DePaul game. She followed that with 16 poinad and six rebounds at Stanford.
Rasheed and the Tigers play at Santa Clara tonight.
