Men's Swimming Completes Regular Season With Win At Columbia

A Uris Pool record by junior Jon Christensen and a diving sweep for sophomore Stevie Vines were a pair of the highlights for the Princeton men's swimming and diving team, which ended its regular season with a 174.5-125.5 victory over Columbia.
Vines opened the meet by winning the three-meter competition with 354.38 points. Freshman teammate Mark O'Connell, who had an even bigger effort upcoming, placed third with 308.70 points.
Princeton opened the swimming competition with a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay. The team of Kaspar Raigla, Brian Barrett, David Reid and Ian Rea finished in 3:25.62.
Princeton had a strong start in the individual swim competition with a 1-2 finish in the 1000. Junior Travis McNamara won the event in 9:36.02, while freshman Paul Nolle took second in 9:39.86.
Junior Colin Cordes placed second in the 200 free (1:40.72), while classmate Robert Coe took second in the 100 back in 51.96. Princeton won the 100 breast when Christensen finished in 56.71, and Christensen followed up later by winning the 200 breast in a Columbia pool record time of 2:02.91. It was the third straight multiple-win week for Christensen, who could end up battling Columbia's Adam Powell for top scoring honors in the Ivy League championship meet three weeks from now.
Coe, Cordes and Nolle went 1-2-3 in the 200 back, with Coe winning in a time of 1:52.38. Cordes finished second in 1:54.72, while Nolle placed third in 1:55.76.
Senior Brett Lullo took second in the 200 fly in 1:53.05, while Faux placed second to Powell in the 50 free in 21.05.
Vines won the one-meter diving competition with 334.80 points, while O'Connell placed second with 312.37 points. O'Connell qualified for the NCAA Zone A diving competition with his one-meter score, and will join Vines following the Ivy League championships.
Thomas Fellowes (46.81) and Matt LaMonaca (47.09) went 2-3 in the 100 free, while Patrick Biggs (4:39.72) and Hanna (4:40.36) went 1-2 in the 500 free. Reid took third in the 100 fly in 50.54, and Hanna followed by leading a 1-2-3 charge in the 200 IM. Hanna won in 1:53.03, while Lullo took second in 1:55.21 and Adam Lebovitz placed third in 1:59.43.
Princeton concluded the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 free relay. The team of Barrett, Cordes, Michael Monovoukas and LaMonaca finished in 1:24.25.
