Track & Field Sets Sights on Sykes & Sabock Cup

PRINCETON, N.J. (2/2/11) - The Princeton track & field teams will comepte at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup at Penn State this weekend, Feb. 4-5. Live scoring will be available on GoPSUSports.com.
The Princeton men's team won the Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup with 107 points, 24 points better than second-place team Penn State. Cornell finished in third place with 80 points. Austin Hollimon won the 400 with a blistering time of 47.03, his fastest run of the season. Max Kaulbach won the 5000 clocking in at 14:34.75, besting 21 other competitors. Michael Franklin was third and Ted Price was fourth, to contribute 21 points to Princeton's team total from the 5000. Kyle Soloff continued to dominate the mile as he took first place for the fourth time this season, with a time of 4:08.2833. Sophomore Donn Cabral ran in right along with him at 4:08.2872. The duo of Peter Callahan and Russell Dinkins went 1-2 in the 800-meter run. Callahan finished in 1:51.46 with Dinkins right behind at 1:51.55. Taking third place honors was Brian Leung in the 3000, Justin Frick in the high jump and Chad Faulkner in the pole vault.
Last year the women's team finished eighth of 14 but was without its distance runners, who were competing at another meet. Tory Worthen won the pole vault clearing 3.97 meters beating out 19 other competitors. The next best mark in the even was 3.87 recorded by Stephanie Duffy of South Florida. Thanithia Billings recorded a new personal best in the weight throw, where she finished third. She threw to 17.40 meters on her second throw of the day, beating her previous best of 16.28 meters. She went on to place second in the shot put with a mark of 14.21 meters. Danielle Glaeser ran in the 200-meter dash where she clocked in at 25.74. She continues to steadily improve on her time, after posting a 25.90 earlier this season after a season-best of 25.99 last year.The men's team will send a select group of distance runners to The GaReat Meet in Geneva, Ohio. Competing will be Trevor VanAckeren in the 800; Mark Amirault and Peter Callahan in the mile; Donn Cabral, Kyle Soloff and Joe Stilin the 3000; and Brian Leung, Alejandro Arroyo Yamin and Chris Bendsten in the 5000.
Additionally, senior Sarah Cummings will run the 3000 at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at The Armory on Saturday afternoon.
