Kelsey VandeBergh Named Ivy League Softball Player of the Week
March 22, 2011 | Softball
Princeton junior Kelsey VandeBergh has been named the Ivy League softball Player of the Week after helping the Tigers win six of their last eight games on the spring trip.
The award is the first for VandeBergh in her career and first for Princeton since Collette Abbott '10 on April 28, 2009.
VandeBergh is hitting .368 on the season with an Ivy League-best 13 RBIs. Before it was snapped in Princeton's shutout win of Utah to end the spring trip, VandeBergh had a nine-game hitting streak in which she batted .429 (12 of 28) with three home runs and five doubles. During that span, VandeBergh drew six walks and struck out only three times in 28 at bats.
Princeton (7-9) will have the first of 10 home dates on the season Sunday against Marist with a twinbill beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Class of 1895 Field.
