The first of 10 home dates will begin Sunday at 1 p.m. with a twinbill against Marist for the Princeton softball team, which has won six of its last eight games and has the Ivy League season just a week away.
Sophomore Sarah Rounsifer leads the team in batting average at .375 with reigning Ivy League Player of the Week Kelsey VandeBergh, a junior, close behind at .368 and sophomore Lizzy Pierce at .364. Five players, led by VandeBergh with three, have the Tigers' nine home runs, and VandeBergh led the Ivy League entering the week with 13 RBIs.
Princeton has used a trio of pitchers this season, with senior Michelle Tolfa's 3-3 record and 3.94 ERA leading the team ahead of sophomores Alex Peyton (2-5, 4.54) and Liza Kuhn (2-1, 5.07).
Marist is 11-12 heading into its Saturday doubleheader against Holy Cross and has two players near .400 at the plate, with junior Nicole DiVirgilio at .394 and junior Megan Lamoureux at .391. Three pitchers have shared most of the Red Foxes' innings, led by sophomore Emily Osterhaus at 4-4 with a 2.85 ERA. It will be the first meeting between Princeton and Marist in the programs' histories.
The Sunday twinbill will open a homestand of five doubleheaders, with the final pre-Ivy games against Central Connecticut State next Wednesday and the Ivy openers Friday and Saturday against Brown and Yale. Princeton will cap the homestand with Lehigh on April 6.
