Baseball Visits Delaware Tuesday in Advance of Ivy Championship Series

Princeton clinched the Gehrig Division title on Friday when Penn dropped the opening game of its series at Columbia. Princeton dropped its first game of the weekend to Cornell, but then reeled off three straight wins. The third win was necessary as it allowed Princeton to finish a game ahead of Dartmouth in the race for the right to host the ILCS. Princeton was 15-5 in Ivy play compared to Dartmouth 14-6 record. Princeton's wins moved the Tigers to 21-20 overall this season which is the first time all year that the Tigers have been above the .500 mark.
Princeton visits Delaware on Tuesday in a game that was added to the schedule after the Tigers' scheduled game on April 19 at St. John's was rained out. Princeton and Delaware last played to begin the 2008 season when Princeton took three of four games in its opening weekend of the season. Princeton is 5-8 all-time against the Blue Hens. Princeton freshman lefty Michael Fagan will make his fourth consecutive mid-week start for the Tigers. Last Wednesday he allowed three hits in five shutout innings and against Rutgers and also worked a scoreless inning over the weekend against Cornell.
Delaware is currently 25-19 overall and 15-9 in CAA play. Delaware is 6-3 in its last nine games and took two of three games last weekend in a conference series at VCU. The Blue Hens are batting .277 as a team with four regulars hitting above .300, led by Pat Dameron's .351 average. The Blue Hen pitchers have a staff ERA of 4.53. Princeton and Delaware have played two common opponents in UNC Greensboro and VCU. Princeton is 1-2 against the pair with a loss at UNCG and a two-game split at VCU. Delawre was 1-2 at UNCG and 2-1 at VCU.
