June 16, 2011 | Baseball
PRINCETON (6/16/11) - Junior Sam Mulroy earned American Baseball Coaches Association Northeast Region Second Team honors on Thursday as announced by the organization. Mulroy was the catcher of the second team and the only Ivy League player represented among the 26 players recognized from the Northeast.
A first-team All-Ivy selection at catcher, Mulroy led the Ivy Champion Tigers in most offensive categories, including batting average (.320), doubles (11), home runs (7) and RBIs (39). Mulroy also stole a team-high 13 bases during the season and threw out 14 of 59 attempted base stealers (24.5%).
Mulroy is Princeton's first all-region selection since Thomas Pauly was named to the Northeast Region's first team in 2003.
