Matija Pecotic Named ITA's Regional Player to Watch in Men's Tennis
June 07, 2011 | Men's Tennis
Princeton sophomore Matija Pecotic, who capped his Ivy-undefeated season with the Ivy League Player of the Year award, has been named as the Northeast region's "Player to Watch" by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Pecotic was atop Princeton's singles ladder all season long as the Tigers took their run for an Ivy League championship into the season's final match. Pecotic is one of 13 players nationally to receive the Player to Watch designation and is the only Ivy Leaguer on the list.
For the season, Pecotic was 23-7 between tournaments and dual matches, doing 15-4 in duals with all 19 matches coming at the No. 1 position.
The announcement came as part of a list of national honors presented by the ITA, recognizing head coaches, assistant coaches, seniors, rookies and sportsmanship.
