Princeton Mourns The Loss Of Former National Champion Jack Bales '34
June 09, 2011 | Football
Jack Bales '34, a member of the national championship Princeton football team of 1933 and one of the ultimate supporters of Princeton athletics during his 100 years of life, passed away June 3.
"Jack was just a gentlemen's gentleman," Director of Athletics Gary D. Walters '67 said. "Humble and self-deprecating, he was a significant member of Princeton's 1933 national championship football team. We've lost a Princeton treasure who was a part of the great Princeton Athletic tradition."
Bales' love for the University and its athletic department has been a constant since his time with Fritz Crisler and the national champion 1933 Princeton football team, which went 8-0 and outscored its opponents 190-6. He even made it back to Princeton for Reunions last month for his 77th reunion.
Bales was featured by GoPrincetonTigers.com last year; that story and video can be seen here. His obituary is available here.
