Banghart to Take Part in NCAA Mock Selection Exercise
July 12, 2011 | Women's Basketball
Princeton women's basketball head coach Courtney Banghart has been selected to participate in the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship "mock" selection exercise. It will be held July 16-17 at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis.
Banghart and the other attendees are among a select group who will fulfill responsibilities typically handled by members of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Committee in regard to the selection, seeding and bracketing of the Division I Women's Basketball Championship. This exercise will be a great opportunity for these coaches and conference administrators to engage in a "mock" process that will be educational, enlightening and helpful in creating a greater understanding of each phase of the process for the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship.

The session will begin Saturday, July 16 at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis at 9 a.m., and conclude for the day at approximately 10 p.m. The group returns the following morning Sunday, July 17 at 8:30 a.m., to continue the process and conclude at noon. All attendees will participate in a "hands-on" exercise, including the "mock" selection of teams, seeding of those selected teams and placing those teams in a "mock" bracket. Participants will arrive prepared to discuss teams, key personnel, non-conference/conference game results and will follow the "Principles and Procedures for Establishing the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship bracket." The NCAA staff will guide the process and members of the women's basketball committee will be in attendance for assistance purposes.
