Return Of Steven Cody Highlights First Practice Of Football Season
August 25, 2011 | Football
The last time Princeton fans saw Steven Cody in Orange and Black, he was being carted off the field at Lehigh with a season-ending injury. It was a sign of things to come during a disappointing 2010 season, but both Cody and the 2011 Princeton football team were back on the field Wednesday with far greater expectations for the upcoming season.
Nestled in between Tuesday's earthquake and the hurricane projection for the upcoming weekend was a perfect Wednesday afternoon, and Princeton took advantage on the FieldTurf of the Finney Campbell practice fields. Head coach Bob Surace split practice into two shifts to allow all players to get maximum repetitions during the earliest session of camp.
While there was plenty to pay attention to, including the heralded Class of 2015 and returning quarterback Tommy Wornham, the attention-grabbing player was sporting No. 51. The 2009 Ivy League leader in tackles was competing in his first practice in more than 11 months, and he made at least one play that left Surace confident that his All-Ivy standout defensive player was back completely.
