Men's Water Polo Ranked 16th in Preseason Poll

PRINCETON (8/26/11) -- The Princeton men's water polo team will enter the 2011 season ranked 16th in the CWPA Men's Varsity Top 20 Preseason Poll. Princeton finished the 2010 season also ranked 16th in the country after its third-place finish at the Eastern Championships.
Princeton is the third highest ranked Eastern program in the preseason poll. St. Francis is ranked 11th and Navy sits 15th entering the season. Bucknell, ranked 19th, is the only other Eastern representative in the Top 20.
The Tigers will face at least four teams currently ranked in the Top 20 during the season and will likely face more in tournaments as the season wears on. Princeton opens the season on Sept. 9 against 14th-ranked Santa Clara and DeNunzio Pool and will also meet eighth-ranked Loyola Marymount, 15th-ranked Navy and 19th-ranked Bucknell during the season.
The Tigers begin the season in two weeks when they host the Princeton Invitational at DeNunzio Pool. In addition to playing Santa Clara, Princeton will meet Fordham, Harvard, Brown and MIT in its opening weekend.
