Women's Basketball Departs Thursday on Overseas Trip

PRINCETON, N.J. (8/30/11) - The women's basketball team arrived back in Princeton a few weeks earlier than usual. With a trip planned to Paris, France and Dakar, Senegal in Western Africa, the players arrived one after the other on Wednesday, Aug. 24. The team performed conditioning tests and had the first practice with coaches on Friday.
Princeton will have full-time local tour directors as they travel and play abroad. Fans can stay up to date with the Tigers by checking out GoPrincetonTigers.com, for daily blogs, photo galleries and videos.
The team is scheduled to leave JFK airport on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m., arriving in Paris at 8:55 a.m., on Sept. 2.
The Tigers will spend three full days in Paris, visiting local landmarks including the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower, and a boat ride down the Seine River. During their stay, the Tigers will play two games against Lyon, a Pro A team in the French league.
The squad is set to depart Paris on Monday, Sept. 5 and arrive in Dakar, Senegal at 7:55 p.m.
In the west African country, the team will visit sights such as Goree Island, Lake Retka, Joal Fadiouth and a take a mini-safari in Mbour during its five-day stay.
The Tigers will act as ambassadors for their sport and country with a clinic in Mbour a day before a service project at a local orphanage. Princeton will play two more games, on Tuesday and Saturday, against the Senegal National Team B.
The return flight is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 11, with an arrival back in the U.S., at approximately 12:15 p.m.
Note: Paris is six-hours ahead of the East Coast, while Senegal is four.
