Men's Water Polo Bounces Back With Overtime Win at Navy

Princeton trailed in a back-and-forth game in the final quarter but a late goal from Drew Hoffenberg sent the game to overtime. In overtime Nelson scored with the man advantage and Butler added a natural goal to give the Tigers a two-goal lead. Navy would close the gap to a goal with a man-up tally in the final quarter but Shannon closed out the win scoring out of the set with 1:30 left to play.
Princeton led the game 4-3 at the half, but trailed 6-5 entering the final quarter of play. Navy took a one-goal lead again with 2:06 left in regulation but Hoffenberg's goal with 21 seconds left evened the tilt at 8-8 and forced the overtime sessions.
Hoffenberg and Shannon each scored three goals while Nelson and Tim Wenzlau both contributed two markers. Wenzlau also had four steals in the win, while Hoffenberg, Matt Weber and Butler added assists. Tyler Amina played the full game in goal and made 11 saves, including three in the six minutes of overtime.
Princeton is now 9-1 overall and 1-1 in the CWPA Southern Division. The Tigers close out their Saturday at 4 p.m. against George Washignton.
