Chuck Dibilio Recovering At Hospital Friday After Overnight Stroke
January 20, 2012 | Football
Chuck Dibilio, the 2011 Ivy League Football Rookie of the Year, was recovering Friday morning at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia after suffering a stroke overnight, said his father.
"They removed a clot in the main artery of his brain early this morning," said Chuck Dibilio Sr. "He is currently recovering. They are trying to find out what caused it, so they can prevent it in the future. As far as a long-term prognosis, we are a long way from knowing, but we appreciate all of the support Chuck has received."
Dibilio was the breakout star of the Ivy League during the 2011 season after rushing for 1,068 yards, the most by any true freshman in Ivy history and the sixth-most by any Princeton running back in a single season. He tied an Ivy League record by being named Rookie of the Week six times, and he set a record by earning the same award during four consecutive weeks.
Besides being Princeton's first Ivy League Rookie of the Year since 1983, Dibilio was a first-team All-Ivy League honoree.
