Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Release
Princeton women's basketball senior co-captain Lauren Edwards has been named one of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. The honor recognizes student-athlete's achievements both on-and-off the court.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.
An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Edwards, the most recent Princeton finalist since Meagan Cowher in 2008, has been an integral part in the Tiger's 13-4 overall, 3-0 Ivy League record and currently is averaging 10.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. The two-time All-Ivy League First Team and Academic All-Ivy League selection, reached the 1,000-point scoring milestone this fall and has been part of back-to-back Ivy League Champion teams.
The finalists were chosen by a media committee from the list of 30 candidates announced in November. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to determine the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote either at seniorclassaward.com or the award's Facebook page through March 18. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I women's basketball head coaches' votes to determine the winner.
Lowe's, an official Corporate Partner of the NCAA, will announce the women's Senior CLASS Award® winner during the NCAA Women's Final Four®, which will be held April 1 and 3 in Denver, Colo.
