Former Tiger Danny Barnes Nominated for MiLB Relief Pitcher of the Year

Former Princeton baseball player Danny Barnes has been nominated for the MiLB Relief Pitcher of the Year award. A current pitcher with the Minor League Baseball affiliate Dunedin Blue Jays, Barnes set a club record with 34 saves to lead the Minors in 2012.
The right-handed hurler began the year in Dunedin and was promoted to the AA New Hampshire Fisher Cats for a brief stint, before returning to the Florida State League Blue Jays to finish the season. With Dunedin, he conceded only eight runs on 37 hits over 51.1 relief innings. He concluded the season with a 1.40 ERA, 63 strikeouts and held opponents scoreless over his final 15 appearances with the Jays.
His combined stat line between both clubs read 1-3, with 34 saves, a 1.87 ERA and 65 strikeouts over 53 innings of work.
Barnes pitched at Princeton from 2008-10, finishing his collegiate career with three victories and 90 strikeouts over 95 innings of work.
